Welcome to my portfolio page. I am a data consultant, freelance data scientist, and python developer. On the page below you will find personal recommendations from former colleagues of mine as well as links to work that I am proud of (see "Selected Work"). If you are interested in contacting me send me an email or give me a call. I am currently looking for a new full time role!
A little more about me: I have a long history working with data. I graduated in 2020 from the University of Utah with a PhD in physics. Immediately thereafter I worked as a Data Scientist for Western Governors University and roughly a year after that as a Data Scientist for PayPal. After my time with PayPal I decided to take some time for personal projects and constuling work.
One of my current, new interests is using LLMs for fullscale software development and data engineering. As a testbed for this new direction I have been building my own peer-to-peer marketplace website. Using ChatGPT-3.5 as the workhorse developer, I am free to do the systems architecture of the site.
I first met Jason when we were both Data Science Fellows at Insight and was immediately impressed by his creativity in applying scientific techniques to solve business problems. I jumped at the chance to hire him at PayPal, where he was able to immediately drop in and contribute to the Python codebase for an analytics product assisting workforce capacity planning. He introduced object-oriented programming principles to the project and got it onto a solid footing before starting his own project to develop an end-to-end automated workflow to replace labor-intensive A/B testing methods. Jason's particular combination of creativity, technical skills, and interest in thinking deeply about a problem to identify the best approach makes him a powerful asset to any team.
Jason is a fantastic asset to any data science initiative. He is an expert at uncovering deep hidden insights and turning them into robust, scalable, and actionable results for stakeholders. He's a fast thinker, fast learner, and can develop creative solutions to complex problems.
Jason Martineau brings a refreshingly interdisciplinary perspective to data science which allows for creative approaches to a wide range of questions.
I had a chance to work with Jason during his internship at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. He struck me as a very enthusiastic and dedicated young scientist. He is a fast learner and able to work on complex optical setups quite independently. On top of that, his positive nature adds up to create a friendly and supportive work environment.
I know Jason from our time together at Insight Data Science. He gave great presentations where he clearly explained his modeling choices and results. He was also a supportive fellow, providing helpful and specific feedback. He would be a fantastic asset for any team.
I was a PhD advisor for Jason Martineau. Although the term has been hijacked by politicians, in the case of Jason, the moniker ‘happy warrior’ is completely fitting. He may look like a viking but remains forever cheerful and fearless when faced with challenges. He is a hands-on optical physicist and mathematician, and would hire him back in a second.
Using k-means clustering to mine scraped kickstarter data for insights.
Scraping player performance statistics, organizing them in a Tableau dashboard.
